All books can be read as stand alone.
What inspired An Angle’s Wylder Assignment. I guess you’d say I decided to try something different. What was I thinking? A Wylder ride ensued.
Have you ever started a project only to discover it’s not going to be anything like you envisioned? Such is the constant situation of a writer who writes by the seat of her pants. The characters involved in the story take over and run with the plot, character arc, and anything else within their grasp.
Because I can’t plot my way out of a paper bag, and I’ve tried, I endure the escapades of my characters. Nine times out of ten, I end up with an imaginative and well-written book. Such is the case of, An Angel’s Wylder Assignment, part of The Wild Rose Press multi-author Wylder West series. My first attempt at a paranormal western, time travel, and historical all rolled into one. There was a lot of research involved. How do they heat the house back in 1878? What do they cook on? You should grab a copy and see if I pulled it off. LOL
Creating a fictional community with other authors is fun if a little daunting. So many individuals’ points of view and writing technics melded into one world. Sharing characters in the many storylines and making it all cohesive can be challenging but fun for all. Readers get to engage with characters they already know and love, then discover new characters added to the mix in a town or community familiar to them.
What is An Angel’s Wylder Assignment is all about.
Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where and stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.
Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends.
Nothing is as it seems. They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman. On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?
Sneak peek between the pages of An Angel’s Wylder Assignment:
Clambering out of the wagon, the knot in Chinoah’s belly tightened. She followed Ray and Lily up the narrow footpath. Killian brought up the rear. The rock walls were multi-colored layers of red, orange, and yellow rock in a deeply eroded river canyon. A filmy form of a Native American dressed in what she considered chieftain ceremonial clothes wavered over the water then at the canyon’s edge against the rock walls. She waved her hand toward the form. “You seeing this?”
“What?” Ray looked in her direction. “Not seeing anything.” He paused at a stone section where bird images and bird/human hybrids were carved into the rock. He nodded to her. She reached out hesitantly and held her hand a few inches off the face of the rock. Nothing. She blew out a breath and relaxed a little. Ray moved on.
It wasn’t until the path ended and they had to pick their way down a steep slope that the Native American spirit made another appearance. Halfway down the path, her feet slipping and sliding over loose rocks and gravel, the toe of her boot caught on an arched root sticking out of the ground. She pitched forward. Her hands came up in front of her in an attempt to avoid face-planting on the rock’s surface. Something cool grabbed her arms and set her on her feet. Looking into the misty, high cheek-boned face of the chieftain, she gawked. When she peered into his eyes, she felt sorrow, disillusion, and pain. She gulped in air.
They must be stopped. You’re destined to make it happen. A male voice echoed through her mind. A picture of a log room formed in her mind then was gone. Before she could respond, the apparition disappeared, and so did the cold that had engulfed her.
“Wow. What just happened.” Killian was by her side, an arm around her waist. “How did you do that? One moment you’re headed for a face plant, then next, you’re upright standing on your feet.” He slowly shook his head.

RV Adventure Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming Bound
In May 2024 we packed to leave on our second RV adventure to Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, and back to Colorado. We returned to Colorado for a scheduled book signing in early May then hit the road a couple of weeks later ending up in Iowa for four days. There we met with friends that had been neighbors in Colorado, a long-time friend from high school days, and my cousins. Outrun a couple of tornados in Iowa, barely. Did you know there is nowhere to seek safe shelter in a fifth wheel trailer in a campground? Call me a wimp, but while Colorado does have an occasional tornado, we don’t have them on a daily or regular basis. We packed up the fifth wheel and left shortly after sunrise.
Next we landed in South Dakota, stayed in a campground close to Mount Rushmore. Truly a man made feat. Then it was on to visit with friends that lived only a few miles from the rock monument. We relaxed at the campground then took off for the Reptile Gardens a place our friends claimed we just had to see before leaving. They were right! It was a blast. We spent almost five hours there. If you ever get a chance to visit it, by all means do so. It’s a must see. It looks like one of those cheesy off the highway tourist traps. But its not! Funny story. While we were touring the Reptile Gardens, its a building that is two stories tall with a huge antrum. I was dressed in a tie-dyed shirt and jeans. All the creatures that were loose keep eyeing me. A little parrot followed us where ever we went. As we passed the snakes in their enclosures, each one came to the front of the glass and watched me. Now mind you they didn’t behave this way with anyone else. Finally, one of the guides stopped us as we walked up one of the paths and said that the employees that feed the animals all wear tie-dyed shirts, so that was why I was drawing so much attention.
Off to Wyoming to see Devils Tower. Spent a couple of days in Thermopolis, WY. The town in rich in history, rock formations, and interesting street signs. Stopped off on the way home in Riverton,WY, to see friends and Bugg, a bird friend of Taco’s.
Then it was back home to Colorado to prepare for our grand adventure from the deep south and all the way up the east coast. A lot to see and we had such fun. Watch for my third and final installment, Southeast, and all the way up the East Coast. What fun!

Foot Loose and Fancy Free on an RV Adventure
A different Sunday Snippet. Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Zion National Park our First RV Adventure after retirement.Whew what a year 2024. First let me explain. In December of 2023, my husband finally retired. Yippee. We had planned RV travel for years that we couldn’t complete in one or two weeks in our 38 foot fifth wheel trailer. Figured we wait until retirement, then we’d be footloose and fancy free!
We began in April, 2024. We spent three weeks traveling to Las Vegas, in and around Santa Fe and Zion National Park.
Santa Fe was our first stop on our RV Adventure – There are several good restaurants in Santa Fe. In fact its one of the reasons we stopped in Santa Fe on our way to Las Vegas. We would have tried out more but the parking is difficult towards downtown, narrow streets and small parking places.
Then it was time to gather up our stuff and point the truck and trailer towards Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, we stopped to visit with friends for a few days. My how their Desert Tortoises had grown. Their habitat took up half okay, maybe only one-third of our friend’s back yard. WOW!
It was unbelievably hot, in the upper 90’s, according to our standards, but not theirs. We’re cold weather people.
Which is why we are having trouble planning a visit to the Arches. By April it’s in the 90s. Walking around looking at rock formations in over 90 degree weather isn’t high on my list. But traveling from Colorado to Utah in February and March, when the weather is cooler, is a recipe for snowy disaster. LOL Especially, with the wild weather swings Mother Nature is creating. But we will figure it out.
Zion National Park was interesting. The rock formations were more varied in color than in Colorado. But I guess having lived all my life in Colorado, I was a little under whelmed by Zion National Park. But I’m glad we went there and saw the area, which did have a nice KOA Campground. So for now, I’ll leave you with pictures of Zion. Enjoy. Next week our second RV Adventure into the midwest, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Please check back.
